The winner of the contest

The overall winner of PFAFFs contest “The most creative sewer in the world” is Susan from the USA with her project Gabe.

Susan’s description of the project is:

I used a cross stitch generator to create a graph of my golden retriever's photo. Instead of cross stitching I used 1/2" cells cut in vertical strips (with 1/4" seam allowances) from quilting cotton to reproduce the photo.

The reasoning from the jury is as follows:

Susan has used an existing sewing technique and taken it further by combining the technology of cross stitch program and the more traditional technique of piecing. The result is a loving portrait of her dog with a twist of modern pixel graphics. This is very popular in other media, but we love the sewing version. We understand that the work behind this quilt requires a large amount of creativity and patience.
